UK Trade & Investment is a Government organisation that supports and develops UK companies trading internationally, and promotes the investment of overseas enterprises seeking to locate in the UK.

UK Trade & Investment work with the BCC to ensure that UK businesses receive support to pursue opportunities abroad.

On behalf of UK Trade & Investment, the BCC manages and delivers two key services which help companies to prepare to enter new markets - the Export Marketing Research Scheme, which encourages UK businesses to conduct research before entering a new overseas market, and the Export Communications Review, which aims to reduce the instances in which cultural and language barriers come between UK businesses and success overseas.

BCC Chambers can also provide:

• The Passport to Export programme for new and novice exports
• Overseas Market Information Services (OMIS)
• Supported overseas market visits and exhibitions (grants from UKTI and regional money)

A joint Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Home Office Directorate, UKvisas is responsible for managing the visa opertaion overseas. UKvisas reports to a joint management board of senior Foreign and Commonwealth (FCO) and Home Office officials and to Ministers in both departments.
