Welcome to the e-Cert News web page. You will find here all the latest news about the Certificate of Origin online.

New a-Cert eXpress for Sub-Agent Chambers

From 2 February 2007, a further enhancement to the e-Cert system saw sub-agent Chambers being able to accept Stream 1, a-Cert eXpress applications from their customers.

Previously, Stream 1 (certification only applications) could only be processed through main-agent Chambers. From 2 February, we are pleased to announce that sub-agent Chambers are now able to receive and where applicable, process these applications electronically. Click here to view press release.

Get on Board:

Don't get left behind - that's the warning from the team at British Chambers of Commerce responsible for new electronic certification systems.

e-Cert made the system of applying for European Certificates of Origin available online to UK exporters for the first time. It has revolutionised the process, reducing the time it takes to apply from days to hours.  a-Cert has also been added, bringing the same benefits to British businesses exporting to Arab League Nations.  From 1 November 2005, we launched a further exciting development called e-Cert eXpress. This allows exporters not only to apply for a Certificate of Origin electronically but they can now receive the document fully authorised and stamped from the Chamber in an electronic format which they can print directly onto the original Certificate of Origin.  Thus making the process fully electronic.  Click here to view the press release

The benefits of online certification are enormous. Not only does it reduce the time taken to process the application, but it also eliminates the need for someone to visit their local chamber office to hand over the documentation or collect it. The system is accessible 24-hours a day, and, if there are errors or omissions, these can be highlighted and the form returned the same day.  Certificates of Origin cover goods being exported from the UK and are essential to comply with customs requirements, as well as meeting banking and other commercial criteria.
